The Powerade WinterRun is a series of six 10k runs held the second

Thursday of every month from October until March every year.

The dates for this winter are:

12. October 2023

09. November 2023

14. December 2023

11. January 2024

08. February 2024

14. March 2024

The run starts at 19:30 by the outdoor swimming pool of “Árbæjarlaug” where competitors can change clothes and bath afterwards. Joining the other competitors in the hot tubs following the run is an experience not to be missing and an import part of the run. Entry to the swimming pool is not included in the registration fee.

At the registration at Árbæjarlaug competitors get a bib-number (we show up an hour before the start) and do the registration online at www.netskraning.is (entry fee 1000 ISK payable by card only). The route circles the “Elliðárdalur” on paths with asphalt.

As there are no officials on the route to give direction participant are required to know the route or run with someone that knows. The fastest runners are expected to arrive at the finish in around 35 minutes with the slowest closing in around 75 minutes. Results of each race become available as soon as possible following the race.

Each of the six runs gives points in an individual, age group, club and couple competition. At a big party following the last run we have a prize ceremony, refreshments, entertainment.

Pictures from earlier events and links to result can be found on Facebook "Powerade Vetrarhlaup". YouTube also has some clips.

December run of 2008 had the worst conditions ever with blazing winds and rain.

***WARNING***

As this is a late evening run participant are expected to wear bright colored clothes and to show other people on the path respect. During the winter the conditions can get difficult with both snow and ice. We do not expect to cancel the run due to weather, meaning that such severe conditions have yet to arise. Competitors participate on the own risk and the Winter Run cannot be held reliable for any accidents that may occur to the participants or other or any damage caused.
